United States Marine Corps Private First Class served with Company I, Third Battalion, First Marines, First Marine Division. He was killed in action while serving in action in South Korea.Private First Class Hauserman was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy during the Boulder City battle in Korea on July 24, 1953. Private First Class Hauserman was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. Woody died 2 days before the end of the war. His mother heard the news reports saying the Armistice had been signed. She thought her son had survived and would come home safely. Sadly, a few days after peace was declared, she learned that her son did not survive the final battle of that war.
