Maude Hunter was the third child of William Preston and Martha E. (Keown) Hunter. She was raised in Decatur, Illinois and moved to Chicago to live with her sister Mrs. Leslie (Carrie) Schwab after the death of their mother in 1892.

Maude married William Harridge of Decatur and they were the parents of a son Dr. William Harridge.

The Decatur Daily Review carried the following obituary: "Mrs. Will Harridge, Ex-Decaturite, Dies - Chicago, Nov. 7 (AP) - Funeral services for Mrs. William Harridge, 71, who died early Tuesday after a prolonged illness, will be held Thursday.

Services for the wife of the American League president will be in suburban Wilmette and burial in Memorial Park cemetery, Skokie, Ill.

Members of her family said she had requested that, in lieu of flowers, friends contribute to the memorial fund of either St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, or the Wilmette Parish Methodist Church.

The Harridge home is at Wilmette, where an only child, Dr. William Harridge, also resides. Mrs. Harridge died at St. Frances Hospital. She was the former Maude Hunter of Decatur, Ill."
