Decatur Daily Review 3/19/1939
Word was received here yesterday of the death Friday in Fort Lauderdale,Fla of Mrs. Levi Towle,83 who had lived nearly all of her life in Decatur and vicinity. She had lived in Fort Lauderdale for the last three years and had been ill more than a year.Her only son, Rev. E. K.Towle,who was a prominent Methodist minister in Illinois died in Fort Lauderdale only last Feb. 11.
She was born May 1, 1855 on the farm of her parents north of Cerro Gordo. She was married to Levi Towle and joined him as an active member of the First Methodist church here. On Dec. 10,1934 the church honored her for her 50 years as a Sunday school teacher.
She leaves one brother, Will O. Peck of Cerro Gordo and two daughters Miss. Elizabeth Towle of Decatur, who has been living in Fort Lauderdal with her mother and Mrs. Frank Acton of Decatur who has been in Florida since the death of her brother, Rev. Mr. Towie. Another daughter, Mrs. J.E.Kennelly died a number of years ago and her husband died Dec. 11, 1925. There are seven grandchildrenand eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Decatur with burial in the Cerro Gordo cemetery.
