Brenda June Smart, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late George Merrill Collins Sr. and Lillian Pearl Shockley Collins. She was a long time, active member of First Baptist Church of Delmar, where she was a member of the choir for many years and the Baptist Young Women's group. She worked at the State of Maryland Unemployment Office and also had years of experience working in human resources with Wicomico County. She also spent her younger years working for various companies like Hoffman and LaRoche, Salisbury Baptist Temple and Duo Sofa. She a member of the Bi-State Ruritan Club and Delmar VFW Post 8276 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Russell H. Smart; a daughter, Cameo Green of Florida; a son, Russell R. Smart of Delmar; two grandsons; sisters, Cinda Allison and Cathy Lou Helgeson; brothers, Jerry Dean Collins, Alexander Victor Collins, Gary Ray Collins, Hiram Percipal Collins and Zeke Elias Collins; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Robert Lee Collins, Mister Merrill Collins and George Lee Collins Jr and Betty Jean Collins, who both passed as infants. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury. Interment was at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
