"WILLARD WHEELER NYE (Elisha, Alden, Elisha, Joseph, Peleg, John, Benjamin), born at Bangor, Maine, September 26, 1846. During the Civil War he served in Company H, 8th Kansas and 139th Illinois Volunteers. He graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., and lives at Hiawatha, Kan. He married, November 10, 1872, Margaret J. McChesney."
Three children noted:
1. Grace, b. Sept 18, 1873 at Manitou, CO. She graduated at Mt. Holyoke (Mass.) College, in 1895. She married June 29, 1888, Erving Herbert, editor of "Brown County World" Hiawatha, KS; d. Apr. 9, 1899
2. Ella M., b. Mar. 27, 1883
3. Margaret J., b. Mar. 16, 1886
