The Clarion, Jackson, MS, July 7, 1886:

Death of Mrs. Brame.
It is our painful duty to chronicle the death of this most estimable lady, the wife of our respected townsman, Judge L. Brame. She died at one o’clock this morning of heart disease. She had been confined to her home for the past two weeks, and was supposed to be convalescing, when she passed away quite unexpectedly, as stated. It is only a brief space since we saw her the very picture of health and happiness, and hence the announcement of her death this morning was a great surprise and shock to the community. Mrs. Brame was a niece of ex-Governor McRae, and of Hon. Jas. B. McRae. A wide circle of friends and relatives in this state and in Alabama will receive with sorrow the tidings of her death.

and from The Clarion, Jackson, MS, July 21, 1886:

OBITUARY.
DIED, In Jackson, Miss., July 7, 1886, MRS. LILLIAN BRAME, the beloved wife of Judge L. Brame. Daughter of Burwell and Elizabeth McRae Boykin, of Mobile. Born in Dallas county, Alabama, January 4, 1857.

The tender grace of the past, the bereaved hearts of the present, and the great loss of the future, all speak in eloquent grief of beloved Lillie Brame. The sweet and winsome lips are closed in death; closed the bright eyes through which shown a soul so pure and true that Heaven's own light seemed mirrored in it; the soft white hands are folded over the heart that thrilled with compassion for other's woes, or throbbed with happiness for other's joys. The light and life of a beautiful earthly home has been transferred to that home above where the Heavenly Father has touched them into perfect radiance. Stilled is the voice of the devoted wife. mother, sister and friend, but He will send the gentle spirit to guard and comfort the beloved ones who are left to struggle with life's doubts and fears.

A lovely Christian character, high-bred, accomplished, tender and true, her life was so beautiful, that even at the last, the angel messenger was merciful, and came so swiftly and gently that

"So softly death succeeds life in her
She did but dream of Heaven, and
She was there."

[Obituaries provided by Paul Armstrong]

According to the cemetery sexton's report published in the Clarion on August 1, 1886, Mrs. Brame died at age 29 years of "nervous prostration." She may be buried in Section 6, Lot 4, the lot purchased from the City by L. Brame on June 25, 1886, when his infant child was buried.
