Born in Ohio, he and his family moved to Shasta County in 1936.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, was a police officer in Mount Shasta and a member of Elks Lodge 2333 in Mount Shasta.
Survivors include wife, Lil; sons, John III and Michael, both of Mount Shasta, and William of Redding; sister, Betty Acord of Klamath Falls, Oregon; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held.
