Physician. He was the son of Dr. J. Q. A. Stewart and Mary Hall Stewart. He attended Owensboro grade school and high school. After graduating from Centre College he attended Kentucky Military Institute, and later in 1893, graduated in medicine with an M.D. degree from the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. After inheriting the position from his father he was for 50 years the head of the Stewart Home School. The school, responsible for the education of the developmentally disabled, was one of the few of it's kind during his time, and to this day maintains his original vision. He was married to Margaret Dowling and was the father of John Dowling, Mary Hall, Margaret Morrow,and Mildred Dale Stewart.
