American Film Producer and Screenwriter. Jacks grew up in a military family and after studying to be an engineer and getting an MBA, he pursued screenwriting and worked as an entertainment analyst. His film career was launched when he went to work at Washington, D.C.’s Circle Films as a film booker. He helped distribute and/or finance the Coen brothers 'Blood Simple' (1984) and 'Raising Arizona' (1987) before moving on to Universal as VP of acquisitions, eventually becoming senior VP of production. At Universal he helped supervise 'Do the Right Thing' and 'Field of Dreams' (both 1989). His other film production credits include 'Heart and Souls' (1993), 'Tombstone' (1993), 'Village of the Damned' (1995), 'A Simple Plan' (1998), 'The Mummy' (1999), 'The Mummy Returns' (2001), 'Rat Race' (2001), 'The Scorpion King' (2002), 'Intolerable Cruelty' (2003), 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' (2008) and 'The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption' (2012). Jacks died of a massive heart attack.
