Ralph Borden Culp, 82, of Denton, died on March 3, 2012. He was born on November 13, 1929 and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1948. He served as a pilot in the Korean War. On March 31, 1956, he married Betty Thomas O'Bannon. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Speech and Drama from Southern Methodist University in 1957. In 1961, he received a Ph.D. in Theatre from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He taught at Rutgers University; the University of Texas at El Paso; and the University of North Texas. Ralph is survived by his wife, Betty, and his four children, Helen Culp (Ray) Schutts of Liberty Lake, WA; Betsy Culp (Bob) Halbach of Plano; Richard (Leslie) Culp of Troy, OH; and Jeffrey (Julie) Culp of Flower Mound, and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph Culp of Maitland, FL; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Sally O'Bannon of Pace, FL. Visitation will be at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, TX, Friday, March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be on Saturday, March 10 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 West Oak St. Denton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "Ralph B. Culp Endowment" (Scholarship in Directing) at UNT, College of Arts and Sciences 1155 Union Circle #305189, Denton, TX 76203; or Denton Christian Preschool, 1114 W.
