Obituary for Irma M. McIntyre

Irma M. McIntyre, 90 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

Born April 1, 1925 on the Yoas family homestead in Newport, Michigan, Irma was the daughter of the late Ralph and Irene (Yoas) McLaughlin. Irma was a 1942 graduate of Monroe High and went on to graduate from Monroe Business College.

In May of 1942, Irma began working at Monroe Auto Equipment as the secretary to the head of production planning. While at Monroe Auto Equipment, she met her future husband.

On October 23, 1948, Irma married her beloved husband Charles S. McIntyre, III at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe.

Irma was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, a founding member of The Thrift Shop Association of Monroe, a member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club, Sailfish Point Golf and Country Club in Stuart, FL, Hillsdale College Women Commissioners, Hibiscus Children’s Foundation Guild, Friends in Council, and served on the board at Sunrise House.

Along with all her civic activities, Irma enjoyed playing Bridge, and traveling with her husband for both business and family getaways. She enjoyed many trips to Northern Michigan spending time at the family cottage in Gaylord and at Black River Ranch in Onaway where she spent much of her time fishing. Irma will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, who gave back to her community and cared for her family.

Irma is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Charles, three loving children: Martha (Stan) Gilchrist of Northville, MI, Marjorie McIntyre (Gary Evans) of Monroe and Susan (John) Cervini of Hillsdale, MI, five cherished grandchildren: Chad (Alison) Gilchrist, Elizabeth Noe, David (Katie) Noe, Alexandra (Christian) Mull, and Katelyn Cervini, and five treasured great grandchildren: Matthew, Charlie, Chase, Bennett, and Isla Rose. In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Gilchrist, and a brother and sister – in – law: Alan and Eloise McLaughlin.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-5 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161. On Monday, March 21, 2016 a memorial visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe beginning at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service celebrating Irma’s life at 11: 00 AM, The Rev. Ross Ulrich, pastor of the church will officiate. Private interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Irma M. McIntyre, 90 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
