William “Doug” Phillips, age 67, of Sweetwater, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville. Doug had fought a courageous battle with leukemia for the past 5 months and is now resting with his Heavenly Father. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Athens. He was employed by the Monroe County School System. Preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Cora Lee Phillips, son: James “Jim” Douglas Phillips, sister: Carleene Ballew, brothers: Charles Edward and Dennis “Denny” Phillips. Survivors include his wife of 17 years: Dawn C. Phillips, of Sweetwater, children: William “Drew” Phillips, of Sweetwater, Rachel and spouse Matt Kasprzyk, of Shelbyville, Ryan Stephen Mills, of Chicago, Rebecca Jean Mills, of Riceville, grandchildren: Sophia and Weston Kasprzyk, of Shelbyville, sisters: Deloris Goodman, TX, Wanda Faye Presley, of Niota, Shirley Ann Kyle, of Sweetwater, Linda Joan Arden, of Niota, Brenda Phillips, of Sweetwater, Jackie Ervin, of Riceville, Verna Lee Paul, of Decatur, Debbie Baines, of Madisonville, brothers: J.D. Phillips, of Ten Mile, James “Jim” Phillips, of Knoxville, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Mel and Geri Drouillard, of Tucson, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 5:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 8:00P.M. in Kyker’s Chapel with Pastor: Keith Whited officiating.
