Beloved husband of the late Susan (nee Dowdel), uncle of John Abbey, Joseph Livigiano, Mildred Holland, Annellie Hric, Rose Waters, John DeCalier, Carmaline, and Carl (deceased), Saturday, Nov. 18, 1961, residence, 10903 Lake Ave. Friends may call at McGorray Bros. Lakewood Home, 14133 Detroit Ave. Funeral may Tuesday, Nov. 21, S. Rose Church at 9:30 a. m. in lieu of flowers, contributions to Holy Family Home, 16607 State Rd. would be appreciated.
Husband of the late Susan A Dowdell Lewis (his 3rd wife); md Apr 5, 1922, Cuyahoga Cty, Ohio.
s/John & Maria Abbey
Prior marriage to Maud Ethel Charles, b Findlay, Ohio 1883; d/o Jacob & Martha Byal Charles, married 1906, Erie County, Ohio. Marriage certificate shows him as divorced, her a single. Source LDS Church.
1910 Census lists him as having been married twice (with Maud as his 2nd wife).
SSA Application/Claims Index shows his birth place as Italy, but I can find no immigration data other than a note on the 1900 census saying he came to the U.S. from Italy in 1890, with a note that his original name may have been Abbene. Other census records list New York as birth place and English as his native language. He was the owner of a saloon.
