David Condie Packard

David Condie Packard, 82, husband, father, grandfather & brother passed away on February 15, 2006. He was born in Provo, Utah, on March 25, 1923, to Dwight Packard and Hannah Condie Packard. He attended school in Provo and graduated from BYU with a bachelor degree in Accounting and Business Administration. While there he met and married Barbara Harding. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple. They were blessed with three children and 11 grandchildren. They lived in Provo for eight years and then moved to Orem where they currently live. He worked as a supervisor in the open hearth at Geneva Steel for over 30 years. He served in the Army during World War II and was stationed at many bases in the United States as well as London England, LeHarve France, Mannheim Germany, Holland, Marsailles France and the Philippine Islands. He was on the first ship to deploy troops from the Atlantic to the Pacific theater during the war. His family was the love of his life and he enjoyed teaching them to fish, work and serve their fellow men. David was a good mechanic and always kept the cars running properly. Friends and neighbors would often call on him for help with their cars. He loved going fishing with his friends through the years, and cherished their friendship. His church service included administrator in the Baptistery at the Provo Temple and Director in the Baptistery at the Mount Timpanogos Temple, counselor in the High Priest Quorum, ward choir president for many years, scout troop committee member, scout paper drive coordinator, home teacher, and ward and stake missionary. David is survived by his wife Barbara, his three children: Greg (Sandra) Packard, Kathleen (Mark) Johnson, and Ryan (Karen) Packard, 11 grandchildren, three great-grand- children, and a sister, Jane Packard. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Brien Packard. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Sharon 3rd Ward Chapel, 445 South 700 East, Orem. Family and friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
