Son of the late Robert E. and Jane Caufman Platz. Ken was retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Plant where he worked as a lab technician. For the past several years he worked at the boat launch in Dunkirk. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Ken is survived by his wife, Loretta (Winowski) Platz; daughters Patricia Pfister (William, deceased); Dianne (Ronald) Kelley; Sandra Platz, Debra (Dale) Perkins; and Roberta MacKenzie. He is further survived by his sister, Betty Milner; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Gerald Santo Pietro.

Ken volunteered for many organizations and was a member of the Humane Society of the United States and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed animals, gardening and making his own wine.

Ken will be loved and missed by his family and his many friends.
