VIRGINIA BEACH - Minnie Alean White, 85, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 18, 2001.

She was the daughter of the late Miles and Addie Hewitt. Mrs. White was a life member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church. She retired from the city of Virginia Beach. Mrs. White was predeceased by her husband, Cornell ''Petey'' White and her son, Cecil G. White.

She is survived by her sons, Vernon J. White Sr. and his wife Mary of Virginia Beach, and Gary E. White Sr. and his wife Pam of Chesapeake; brothers, Milton Hewitt and his wife Pearla of Norfolk, and Irving Sorey and his wife Margaret of Chesapeake; sister, Gladys French and her husband Jerry of Point O'Rocks, Md.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Nancy White of Stuart, Fla.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, with the Rev. Gretchen Simpson Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
