George was actually born in a town called Elliot, San Joaquin County and is now part of Acampo. The place of death was the last known place both he and his wife lived which was Porterville or that is what Melrose Abbey Memorial Park had on file. George was married to Ruth V. Hall on June 1, 1905, Compton, California. George was an oil driller in 1910 census, living on County Road, Kern County and was in the oil business. He was a lease foreman for the General Petroleum Company in Maricopa, Kern Country, California and a rotary helper which is a machine used to impart rotational power to the drill stem while permitting vertical movement of the pipe for the rotary drilling. There is an article that he signed a lease with Wilshire Oil, with another person, a Mr. Pickel, 5/24/1952. In 1920 Ruth & George lived in Texas. In 1928 George and Ruth lived in Redondo Beach, CA at 710 S. Catalina #B and the apartment building is still there. 1934 both lived at Rt. 4, Box 160-Q, Bakersfield, CA and 1956 living at 9001 Rosedale Highway, Bakersfield, CA. The 1910 census shows two sons both born in California, Acris O Norton, 11 years old, born about 1899 and Paul L Norton, 8 years old, born about 1902. It was assumed the two boys were foster children, since in 1920 both George & Ruth were living in Texas with no children. Both boys just disappear after 1910 the census. Also Ruth was too young to have these boys based on their ages and George was never shown to be married prior to Ruth.
