FISHERSVILLE, VA

Ruth Inez (Cloninger) Campbell Ryder, 87, widow of George Jackson Ryder of Fishersville, died Thursday, December 24, 2015, in Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center, Fishersville.

She was born April 9, 1928, in Dallas, NC, a daughter of the late Clarence G. and Ethel Mae (Smith) Cloninger.

She attended Life Bible College from 1949 - 1951. She graduated and in 1952 went back and was licensed and ordained to help churches build Sunday schools and youth ministries.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Ryder was a newspaper carrier for the Richmond Times.

She was a member of Life Flow Church.

In addition to her husband of 17 years, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Chester F. Campbell of 43 1/2 years; and a brother, Thomas Edison Cloninger.

Family members include a son, Michael Allan Campbell of Verona; a daughter, Mary Catherine Campbell of Staunton; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Josh Phillips; and a special friend, Linda Mullinax.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Rick Hanley and Pastor Alfred Bashlor. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015, in the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Augusta Nursing and Rehab for their care of Ruth.
