Alma June Kitting, 87, of Toppenish died Thursday, March 12, 2015, with her family gathered around her. June was born on June 27, 1927 in Goldendale, WA to Cecil and Gladys Myers. The family moved to Toppenish in 1930. June married Donald Kitting in September 1947 and they raised four children while living in the Seattle area. They moved to Toppenish in 1979.
June was an active member of the Toppenish United Methodist Church for the last 4 decades. She and Don owned Star Electronics Video Rental until retirement in 1995. As part of the business community, she was a member of the Toppenish Chamber of Commerce and was named Woman of the Year in 1985 and received many other community and lifetime achievement honors. She was also active in the Mt. Adams Country Club, Toppenish Mural Society, Toppenish Parks & Recreation and Fortnightly Literary Club.
June is survived by her four children, Susan Adams, Linda (James) Thomson, Michael Kitting, and Judi (Robert) Kitting-Peterson; five grandchildren, five great‐grandchildren, and her brother Dale Myers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, sisters Lyla Myers and Lucille Oldfield, and brother Vernon Myers. A joint celebration of life service for June Vernon will be held at the Toppenish United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 17th at 11 am. Vernon Myers was born in Toppenish on September 3, 1931 and he passed away in Tacoma, WA on December 25, 2014.
