SOUTH BEND - John Richard "Jack" Aaker, 92, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Monday, October 19, at his home of natural causes while he was picking tomatoes from his garden. Jack was born October 30, 1922, in Minot, North Dakota, to the late Casper D. and Leda (Mansfield) Aaker. Jack is survived by his daughter, Karen (Paul) Billingslea, and his son, David Aaker, both of New Buffalo, MI. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Mackley, and his brother, William Aaker. Jack proudly served his country in World War II as a Lieutenant in the US Navy stationed in the Pacific. After the war, Jack was employed by Chase Bank in New York, NY, as the Assistant Economist in the Economic Department and the Petroleum Department. He was then employed by City Trust Bank in Bridgeport, CT, as the Vice President and Head of the Trust Department. He was also employed by the First National Bank of Arizona, in Phoenix, AZ, as the Vice President and Head of the Trust Investment Department and the 1st Source Bank in South Bend as a Senior Vice President of Bank Investments. In keeping with Jack's wishes, there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home River Park, and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with the arrangements.
