October 19, 2011 in Libertyville, IL, at the age of 61, husband of Patricia (nee Benenson) and father of Mary Christine; son of the late Antoni and Anna Bernecki; beloved brother of Sharon (Tad) DeJoy, Kathy (Dennis) Blum, Diane (Daniel) Wieczynski, Richard (Margaret) Bernecki and John (the late Marjorie) Bernecki; survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He graduated with a PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1982. He was employed by Northwestern University as a Research and Development Scientist until his leave of absence due to illness in 1997. A memorial service will be held in Chicago on October 30, 2011 at 12 PM at Kristan Funeral Home, 219 W. Maple Avenue, Mundelein, IL 60060. Memorial gifts may be sent to Hospice, Inc.
