B.H.EWAN, LAWYER OF MAGRUDER, DIES AT DIXIE
WELL KNOWN ATTORNEY OPERATED UPON FOR CANCER OF THE KIDNEY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON
Mr. B.H. Ewan, a well-known lawyer of Magruder, Virginia, died in the Dixie Hospital yesterday afternoon. He underwent an operation for cancer of the kidney, but the shock proved too great for his weakened condition. Mr. Ewan was 62 years old. The remains were turned over to Caffey and Son, of Newport News, and the body will be sent to Petersburg for burial on the morning train of Monday.

Note:Though his headstone is located at York Presbyterian Church, obviously, according to the Daily Press his remains were originally going to Petersburg.

News has been received here of the death Saturday night at Dixie Hospital, Newport News, of B.H. Ewan, Sr., of Magruder, York county, Va. He had been in failing health for several years, although not confined to the house, and his death comes as a shock to his many friends. The remains were brought to his home on Monday, and the funeral services were held from the York River Presbyterian Church at 3 P.M. Mr. Ewan had been an elder in this church for many years. He had been twice married, his first wife having been Miss Mary Dean Schenck. Besides his second wife, who survives him, he leaves three sons, Willie Ewan, of Magruder; Frank Ewan, of Newport News; B.H. Ewan, Jr., of Roxbury, and four daughters, Mrs. J.J. Hovey, of Magruder; Mrs. E.C. Furman, of Newport News, and Misses Rebecca and Grace Ewan, of Magruder. His aged mother and one brother survive him at Mount Holly, N.J.

Parents were John Lippincott Ewan and Ann Eliza Gaskill Ewan. Known siblings were brother Francis Warner Ewan and sister Rececca Warner Ewan.
