Charles lived in Keyport with his family when he enlisted in the Marines 18 September 1967, at a Newark Recruiting Office, when he was 18 years, 3 months and 4 days old.
Upon his arrival in Vietnam 29 February 1968, Charles was assigned to 3rd Platoon of Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Echo Company was participating in Operation Ford near Thon Ba Lang and 8 kilometers north northeast of the Phu Bai Airfield. Echo Company was engaged by hostile forces and Charles died as a result of a hostile gunshot wound to the head. He was killed in action 3 months prior to his 19th birthday.
Survived by his parents,Charles F and Olga H Morse Sr of 177 Second St, Keyport, New Jersey.
