Politician. He served as the President of Singapore from 1985 to 1993. Wee was also High Commissioner to Malaysia from 1973 to 1980, Ambassador to Japan from 1980 to 1984, and Ambassador of South Korea from 1981 to 1984. He was also a successful newspaperman and businessman. His autobiography, "Glimpses And Reflections," was published a year before his death.
