Parents Rafael Blanes and Georgina Mangual both of Mayaguez. Georgina was the wife of Don Jose De Diego; statesman, journalist, poet, lawyer, and advocate for Puerto Rico's independence from Spain and from the United States. They were the parents of Jose, Elisa Estrella, and Georgina.
