MARDELA SPRINGS -- Barbara Emily Calloway of Mardela Springs died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Seaford. She was 67. She was born May 18, 1938, in Patchogue, N.Y., the daughter of the late Henry William Kocarnick and Barbara Ann Darmsalt Kocarnick. She was a seamstress and had sung on WBOC radio station before it became a television station. She had sung with Roy Clark, Buck Owens, Hank Williams Sr. and George Jones before they all became famous. She attended Athol Baptist Church in Mardela Springs and loved cats, Ford Mustangs, flowers and antiques. She is survived by her husband, Robert Calloway; five children, Marian Wilkinson of Seaford, Wilma Lee Miller of Royal Oak, Md., Robin Nibblett of Berlin, Kenneth Nibblett of Frederick, Md., and Wilbur Slanker of Frankfurt, Germany; 12 grandchildren, Gregory Wm. Lee Wilkinson, Lauren Miller, Kaillen Miller, John Michael Miller, Kenneth Nibblett Jr., Charles "Chippy" Nibblett, Crystal and Ashley Nibblett, Sandy Deater, Lara Slanker, John Michal Slanker and Brian Andrew Slanker; and two great-grandchildren, Jolene Leanne Deater and Charles Deater. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Kocarnick. A graveside service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Athol Cemetery in Mardela Springs with the Rev. Edwin Dennis officiating. Arrangements have been made by Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg.
