2nd Malaysian Prime Minister. A native of Pulau Keladi, Pahang, Malaysia, he served as the Prime Minister of Malaysia from September 22, 1970 until his death in office on January 14, 1976. hHe also served as a Member of the British Labour Party, Leader of the Kesatuan Melayu Association of Great Britain, Member of the Malaysian Civil Service, Member of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), Malaysia's Minister of Rural Development, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence. He was also instrumental in starting the Malaysian New Economic Policy (MNEP), in 1971. He died in London, England, following treatment for leukemia.
