Thomas enlisted in the Marines 29 January 1968, at a Newark Recruiting Office.
On his arrival in Vietnam 13 August 1968, Thomas was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Charlie Company was participating in Operation Pipestone Canyon when the Marines engaged hostile forces, 7 kilometers west southwest of the Dien Ban Village. Thomas died as a result of hostile gunshot wounds to the body.
Survived by his parents, Thomas Lee and Cora Blevins Sr and his brother; Rodney Blevins of 180 Harmony Rd, Middletown, NJ.

Cpl Blevins was awarded the Navy Cross.
