Word is Received of Death of Arthur E.Riess Thursday
[]A telephone message to Mrs John R. Riess on Friday told of the passing on of Arthur E. Riess who died Thursday night at his home,5624 W.Beloit road at West Allis. Mr. Riess was a brother of the late John P.Riess and the late Fred P.Riess. He was born in Milwaukee and lived there all of his life. For the past 27 years he was treasurer of the Roberts Insurance Company of Milwaukee. He was frequent visitor to Sheboygan and has many friends there.
[]Surviving him are his wife NORA HARPER RIESS and his brother Gustave of Milwaukee and a niece Mrs John M.Dettling of Sheboygan. []Mr Riess was a member of the Wisconsin Association of Insurance Agents and of Tripoli Shrine and the Kilbourn lodge, F & A.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 PM at the Phillip J.Weiss undertaking rooms at 1901 North Farwell avenue, Milwaukee.The body will lie in state u ntil noon Monday at the Phillp J.Weiss undertaking rooms..Services will be held at Forest Home Chapel on Monday.//Arthur originally married Delia nee Denning of Beaver Dam.She was born 1869, ran away from home,was befriended by Arthur who married her,age 14,in 1883. Arthur and Delia were friends of Carl Akeley, the father of modern taxidermy.They enjoyed shooting guns. Delia divorced Arthur and married Carl Akeley December 23,1902 in Chicago, and "almost immediately they started for Africa to collect specimens " for the Field Museum.
