Born to David W Breeding and Sarah Davis, John married Louisa Parks Ware on February 10, 1842.

During the Texas Revolution, he served with Capt William JE Heard's company of Citizen Soldiers, but stayed in camp and missed the Battle of San Jacinto due to confinement with the measles.

John served as the first Fayette County sheriff--and was once sued by the president of the Republic, Mirabeau B Lamar for $700--reason? Poor tax collection bookkeeping.

"...if my grandfather was to be sued, it was nice to have the President of the Republic do it." Seth Darnaby Breeding Sr. (Find A Grave Memorial# 63231086)
