ASPLUND – Cary Dean
May 2, 1991– April 28, 2011

The family and friends of Cary Dean Asplund remember with great joy their son, brother, nephew, team-mate, boyfriend and close friend, who tragically passed away in a car accident on the afternoon of Thursday, April 28, 2011.

Cary graduated in 2009 from Western Canada High School, and had just returned from his first semester at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS.

Cary was often described as a quiet leader, reliable and hard-working. His fun-loving spirit was evident in everything he did, from socializing to excelling at soccer to drumming in his band to his adventures last year through Central and Latin America. He was forever battling to meet and beat challenges – math, soccer, talking to girls, or anything he didn't really want to do – BUT he did it with a smile on his face! His easy- going and happy demeanour changed his friends' outlooks on life and Cary told them not to take life so seriously, but to chill. He inspired his friends to do what they loved to do. He was a very caring, compassionate and loyal person, and had a knack for making people feel accepted, loved and that they were important to him. Cary's family and friends meant everything to him, and he was very proud of his Swedish heritage. Cary loved, protected and cherished his brother Beau, who calls him his role model and hero, and every day made sure he was okay. Cary will be missed forever by all who knew him.

Cary will be missed dearly by his mother Brenda, father Per, and brother Beau, as well as grandma Michener; aunts Barb (Barry), Bev (Clive), Kajsa (Arne), Kitten (Tomas); his cousins Rickard, Sherri, Michelle and Lindsay; and Gracie our loving cat. Cary was predeceased by his grandpa Keith, Farfar Yerker, and Farmor Mary Dean.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Calgary Winter Club (4611 14 Street N.W., Banquet Hall entrance second level) on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
