"The LaFayette Sun" - October 21, 1896:

In Memory of Mattie Bobbie Wilson.

On October 1st, 1896, the reaper Death, visited the happy home of Mr. and Mrs. Hooker Wilson and plucked the sweetest bud, the little darling and pet of the household, sweet little Bobbie, who was not quite two years old. Let us remember that she is only transplanted from earth to heaven where she will sing praises forever more, and will always be beckoning to the loved ones left behind to meet her on the other short where all is peace and love. Father, mother, brothers and sisters you will never hear the patter of her little feet, nor the music of her sweet voice more on earth, but remember she is done with the toils and trials of this sinful world, and is at rest in the bosom of the Savior who only lent her to you to gladden your hearts for a short while. None but you can ever know how much little Bobbie will be missed, but there is a Comforter, if you will but seek him and ask Him for His tender mercy. He will heal your wounded hearts. She suffered greatly for three days with membranous croup. Everything that loving hands could do was done, but God thought best to take her to Himself. She was too beautiful and lovely to stay longer on this earth.

“Leaves have their time to fall,
And flowers to wither at the North wind’s breath,
And stars to set – but all,
Thou hast all seasons for thine own,
O, Death.”

- L. B. D. , Chapel Hill, Ala.
