He graduated from the University if California in 1914. During his 27 years in teaching, he taught at Grizzly Bluff, near Ferndale. Relocated to San Francisco where he taught History and Mathematics at Lick Wilmerding school in San Francisco. He was principal at Presidio Junior High school for 13 years and Principal at Continuation High school.
