Muncie – Gregory Evan Ditton, 52 passed away at St Vincent Regional Hospital following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Gregory was born in Muncie on December 30, 1962, the son of Clarence and Ethel (Gragg) Ditton, and was a graduate of Union High School.
Mr. Ditton earned his Associates Degree in Carpentry from Ivy Tech Community College, and was a Journeyman Carpenter. He worked for Carpenters Union Local #1016 for many years. He worked on many high profile projects, and enjoyed working on the East 16th Street Church of God, where he was a member. Later he drove for Carter Express until his illness forced him into retirement. He was a member of Carpenters Union #1016, and Vice President of the Board of Directors at the 16th Street Church of God. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and was on the Community Garden Committee. He loved to help others. He enjoyed carpentry, leather working, and archery. He was a remarkably talented man. He loved to build things for his family, and had a very good sense of humor.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Ash, Dr. Sharief, Dr. Eddy and Dr. Rimawi, as well as the nurses and staff at the St. Vincent Cancer Center. In addition, they would like to thank the staff on the sixth floor of St. Vincent Regional Hospital of Anderson. These great people were a tremendous blessing to the family over the last 11 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Kathie Ditton, Muncie; two sons that he was very proud of, Wesley Ethan Smith, (fiancé Harleigh Lee), Muncie, and Bradley Evan Ditton, Muncie; four brothers, Jeffrey L. Ditton (wife-Marsha), Muncie, Jim Ditton, (wife-Lourdes), North Augusta, South Carolina; Stephen Funk, and David Vincent, (wife-Kathy), Floral City, Florida; a sister, Judith Ledgard, St. Peters, Missouri; two grandchildren, Breanna “BB”, and Gracie Gene; his father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Pauline Wills; five sisters-in-law, Cheryl Partin, Jackie Nixon, Lynn Henderson, Cheryl Slatter, and Michele Wagner; and several nieces and nephews.
