E. Mortimer Caruana, superintendent of the Charles H. Potter Company, died yesterday at hishome, 1464 Newton street northwest, following an attack of acute indigestion. Mr. Caruana, who was forty-five years old, has been a lifelong resident of this city. At one time he was well known in theatrical circles, conducting a ballet school in both Washington and New York.
He was the son of the late Orlando E. Caruana, past commander of Lincoln Post, No. 3, Department of the Potomac, G. A. R., who was awarded the congressional medal of honor for conspicuous bravery in the civil war.
Funeral services will be held at his late home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Glenwood cemetery. Dr. C. G. Chappell, pastor of Mount Vernon Methodist Church will officiate. He is survived by his widow and one son, Raymond M. Caruana.
