She was born in Oshkosh in 1862, the only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel M. Hay, early pioneers here. She was married to Brig. Gen. Frank M. Caldwell. who made the Army a career and preceded her in death in 1938.
Mrs. Caldwell was a sister of the late William J. Hay, father of William J. Hay, 345 Washington Blvd.
Surviving are two daughters. Mrs. Dorothy Beach, Farmington. Conn., and Mrs. Jane Lobdell, Los. Angeles, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. One daughter, Mary Hastings, died June 4 of this year.
