Professional baseball player. Bennette was an outfielder with teams in the Negro National League, Negro Southern League, and independent clubs from 1920 to 1936. He made his Negro National League debut in 1921, batting .307 in a combined 43 documented games for the Columbus Buckeyes and Indianapolis ABCs. He played for the Detroit Stars in 1922, hitting .188 in nine documented games. Bennette returned to the NNL in 1926 with the Dayton Marcos, recording four hits in seven documented at-bats with one home run. In 1932, he appeared with the Louisville Black Caps of the Negro Southern League. Bennette also served as manager of the Atlanta Black Crackers in 1935.
