Tennis Champion. Her love of tennis began at the age of 11 under the tutelage of Hazel Whiteman, founder of the Whiteman Cup Tennis Tournament in Boston. In 1933, she won the U.S. Women's Indoor Championship, and in 1948 won the U.S. Women's Doubles Championship. From 1955 to 1956 she was ranked No. 1 in Western Doubles.
