Former South Bend resident Catherine Lucille Gramza, 94, of Huntsville, AL died Monday, December 22nd in her residence. Mrs. Gramza was born October 9, 1920 in South Bend to the late Veronica (Stopper) and Stephen Kuharic and was a lifetime area resident until moving to Huntsville in 2011. On February 18, 1939 in Mishawaka as Catherine L. Kuharic she married Anthony J. Gramza who preceded her in death October 8, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Lochmondy and two sisters, Rose Hallaert and Frances Meyerhoffer. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Wheeler (Mark) of Huntsville, Judith Butler (James) of Livonia, MI, and Rita Becker (Michael) of Ohio; three sons, Edward Gramza (Marlene) of Frankfort, IL, Daniel Gramza (Maryanne) of Evanston, IL, and Timothy Gramza of Huntsville; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Ivan Kuharic of Kansas City, MO.

Catherine was a loving, devoted wife and mother, and woman of great Faith. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and her positive attitude toward whatever life presented was an inspiration. Her wonderful sense of humor brought joy to others. Catherine was a long time parishioner of Holy Cross Parish, and an active member of the Rosary Altar Society. In her quiet time, she enjoyed embroidery and her books of word puzzles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27th in Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Epping C.S.C. officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, IN 46601
