Christian ministry was her life. Thelma and Burnis worked with World Gospel Mission as missionaries in Latin America from 1946-1966. When Burnis accepted a position in administration with World Gospel Mission in Marion, Indiana, Thelma served as his Administrative Assistant until their retirement in 1992. Burnis and Thlema were able to travel to more than 60 countries as a part of their work with World Gospel Mission. She was a member of the Churches of Christ and Christian Union.
Thelma enjoyed crafting, puzzles and cooking international foods. She was a gifted hostess and an encourager of others.
In addition to her husband, Thelma is survived by a daughter, Lois Bushong, Noblesville, IN; 2 sons, David (Lisa) Bushong, Bristol, TN and Robert (Peggy) Bushong, Jonesboro, IN; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 11 - 1 PM at the funeral home.Funeral services for Thelma will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Needham-Storey Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion with Dr. Tom Hermiz officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
