Mrs. C. V. Smith, 80, died today at 1 A.M. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Richard Jackson of 505 Patterson St., after an illness of three weeks. A native and resident of Tazewell, Va., Mrs. Smith was stricken ill while visiting her daughter here.

She was born Aug. 26, 1870, at Tazwell and was the daughter of the late Jim and Rendie Goldy Sluss of Tazwell. She was a member of the Tazwell Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. tomorrow at McEwen Chapel on E. Morehead St., with the Rev. W. B. Penney, pastor of Spencer Memorial Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at Mint Hill.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Frank Richardson of Rt. 1, Martinsville, Va., Mrs. W. A. White of Rt. 1, Bluefield, Va., Miss Susie Sexton of Asco, W. Va., Mrs. Molly McCracken of Bristol, Tenn., Mrs. Royal Bucannon of Utah, Mrs. Marlen Christensen of Idaho; two sons, Henry Perry of McGraws, W. Va., and Ed Perry of Hazy, W. Va; and two brothers, M. T. and Nat Sluss of Tazwell, Va.
