Fred Ralph Aalpoel Obituary

Fred Aalpoel Jr., 84 of Lynden passed away October 7th 2014 surrounded by his family.

Fred was born May 7th, 1930 to his loving parents Lena Henken and Frederick Aalpoel on Abbott Road in Lynden.

He worked in the dairy and logging industries.

He is survived by his wife Margaret; brother Herbert Barbara; sister-in-law Marion; daughters Lori Aalpoel, Diane "Annie" Scott Hansen; sons Karl Tanya, and Derk Sr.; grandchildren Derk Jr. Steven, Dayna, Ryan, Joshua, Kayla, Ava, Bradley and Brandon; and great- grandchildren Skyla, and Ryland. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Johanna and her husband Bob Moa; brother Justin Aalpoel; sister-in-law Ruby Jones; and niece Janet Moa; nephew Wally Moa.

Fred served in the U.S. Army in Germany 1946 to 1948.

Fred shared a wonderful and loving life with Margaret for 51 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time enjoying God's great outdoors cutting wood at Westergreen's. He loved watching the changing of the seasons especially listening to the thousands of Northern Geese flying over to Wiser Lake. He was a man of deep Christian convictions, combined with a wonderful sense of humor. All those whose lives were touched by Fred will remember the smile on his face, and a great memory for loved one's exact dates of birth and the exact dates of events.

Graveside services will be held in Lynden's Monumenta Cemetery on Friday October 10th at 2:00pm followed by a 4:00pm memorial service at Mt View Christian Reformed Church located at 6678 Old Guide Rd. A reception will follow and all are welcome. A special thanks to the Whatcom Hospice team who came to his home for loving and caring support. You are invited to share your condolences and memories in the online guestbook at www.gilliesfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Lynden.
