74, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at The Palliative Care Unit at Baptist Health Louisville.
Born on February 24, 1940 in Glendale, California to Elmi Salonen Kelley and Richard Illingsworth Kelley, Judy lived for many years in Louisville with her husband, Louis "Bud" Dolt.
Judy received her B.A. and M.Ed from the University of Louisville. A teacher for over 30 years, her first job was at an Indian School in Lawton, Oklahoma. She also taught at Cochran Elementary School and Zachary Taylor Elementary School. Judy received numerous awards including the Jefferson County Public Schools Golden Apple Award and the Jefferson County Teachers Association School House Award. A dedicated teacher and education advocate, Judy applied for and received a number of grants. One she was particularly proud of took her to Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California, Berkeley.
Judy was the mother of 3 children: Jennifer Dolt Johnson of New York City, Louie (d. 1997) and Allison (d. 1973); mother in law to Erick Johnson and grandmother to Lia Johnson. Her sister Janice Kelley Allen lives in Cloverdale, CA; sister in law, Susie Kirkland of Louisville, brother in law, Bill Kirkland and nieces and nephews Susan Lipscomb, Omea Holmes, Craig Kirkland and Todd Kirkland; and Sam, J.P. and Rachel Taylor.
Judy will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends who she dearly loved.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00-6:00 PM and Friday from 10:00-12:00 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village. A Service will be held on Friday at 12:00 at the funeral home with burial to follow.
