Mary was a resident of the Home for the Friendless (now known as the Bristol Home), 1500 Main St, Buffalo.

In December 1922 Mary lived at the El Nathan Home for aged women, and her mother, Julia A. Bartlett, had lived with her there since November 1908.

In May 1934 Mary Bartlett was one of 8 helpers sewing for the Clothing Committee.

Mary was listed as a resident of the Home in 1935, per Buffalo City Directory.

In the 1940 Census she was listed as 79 years of age, and single.

Miss Mary L. Bartlett who passed away on June 28, 1940, was a woman of unusual abilities. At one time she occupied the position of responsibility at the Martha Washington Hotel in NY, and again with the YWCA here in Buffalo. A life of active usefulness was concluded by 13 years of rest in the Home.

On June 19, 1940, Dr. Weigel sent Miss Bartlett to Meyer Memorial Hospital, at her request. On June 28 she passed away from complete arterio sclerosis. She was buried in her family lot in Armour Cemetery. Rev J T Pentland officiated at her funeral.
