The sad deaths of Mr. Norman Hickman and his wife Esther Hickman which occurred this week have cast a gloom over Asbury. Last week Mr. Hickman and his wife and her mother with whom the young couple resided were stricken with the "flu", which developed into pneumonia in each case.
As it was impossible to procure a nurse to take care of them, the physician in charge with the assistance of Mr. Geo. P. Tyler moved the three to the Crisfield Hospital, but notwithstanding the efforts of physicians and the best nursing the hospital could give, Mr. Hickman succumbed to the disease on Monday and his wife on Thursday. Mr. Hickman was 28 years of age and Mrs. Hickman was 25. They are survived by a little boy 3 years of age. The young couple was very popular in their home community and greatly esteemed by everyone who knew them.
At the time of Mrs. Hickman’s death, Mr. Hickman had not been buried, and though no announcement has been made as this paper goes to press, it is likely that a double funeral will be held on Sunday and interment made in Asbury Cemetery.
