About 1867, after all of their children were born, James Lawrence Waring and his family decided to move south for health reasons. He and his oldest son, Francis T. Waring, bought a lot of land in Lowndes County, Mississippi and farmed it together. After several years, Francis T. Waring decided to move back to Ohio where he married twice and raised his family. The other children of James Lawrence and Patia remained in Mississippi. Several Waring descendants live in Columbus and Vicksburg, Mississippi.
