Ursula Danera - Hare

Ursula was of jewish-russian descent, born in Nikolaiken, Lithuania.
She joined the German-Austrian underground against the nazis in World War II with her friend Hanne Mertens. Not too many days before the war ended she sang a song at a nightclub in Hamburg, where one of the lines was "Es geht alles vorueber es geht alles vorbei und so geht Hitler und seine Patei!" which translates to "Everything in life comes and goes but so goes Hitler hopefully soon and his party as well".
The next morning the Gestapo knocked on Mertens' door, transferred her to a concentration camp and killed her.

After moving to Vienna, Austria she got surgery from a friend that she went to school with. He operated on her nose so that she would not look jewish when the nazis took over Austria. Josef Meinrad gave Ursula a job in the stageplay "Das Maedchen Till" at the "Komedie" in Vienna.

Walter von Gudenberg was the photographer that discovered her and made her famous, as with many other stars. Ursula escaped from Germany-Austria just before the end of the war to Trieste, Italy. She managed to escape thanks to not being too known at the time. In Italy, after the war she met Mr. Hare of Scotland Yard, a british officer. They married in the 40s and had two children, a boy, Douglas and a girl, Terry, with Mr. Hare. Both of them went on to become movie stars.

Mr. Hare got Ursula a job in Bolzano(Bozen), the capital of the province South Tyrol(northern Italy) as a radio hostess at an Italian-German speaking radio station where she was very successful.
Unfortunately, Mr. Hare got transferred, so together with Ursula and their children they moved to London where she played a part in BBC Sunday-Night Theatre's "The voices."
From there they moved to Toronto, Canada when her husband got transferred again. Her husband died at a young age shortly after they moved to Canada.
She moved to Hollywood, California with her two children, so they could get jobs in the movie business.
Both of them succeeded, Douglas moved back to Canada to work there and Terry moved to Europe where she traveled between Italy and France making movies. Terry also went on to become a top-class model.
Ursula traveled to Hawaii on vacation but never returned to Hollywood. There, she got a job as a radio hostess for KNDI Radio in Honolulu.

At KNDI Radio she mostly played international songs from countries such as Russia, Sweden, Germany, France and Italy. However, she also played a lot of hawaiian music as well.
Besides the radio show, Ursula held exercise classes at Kapiolani Park, near Honolulu zoo. Ursula wrote a book about health and exercise, and so did her friend, Paul Bragg.
She now lies buried with her son, the actor Douglas Hare, in Diamond Head Memorial Park.
