For ten seasons, he played with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1950, 1953), Milwaukee Braves (1954-56), New York-San Francisco Giants (1957-59) and Washington Senators (1961-62). He his career ended with a record of 1049 hits, 39 home runs, 527 runs scored, 320 runs batted in and a .260 batting average. He also was a US Army Koran War veteran and died at age 42 of a heart attack while driving his car.
