Businessman. His father, Edward Sr., founded the various Budd manufacturing companies in the late 1800's. Edward Jr. took over the firms from his father, and was one of the main driving forces in the promotion of the light rail vehicle (LRV), which is widely used in the Orient and decreases the use of locomotives.
