Australian soldier, born at Glenelg, South Australia and educated at St Peters College, Adelaide. Travelled voluntarily to the UK in 1915 to join the British Army and served for 2½ years in the trenches in France (King Edward's Horse), until invalided out with trench fever. Became an instructor at the Palace Barracks, Belfast. Commissioned 29 April 1918 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Somerset Light Infantry. He was attached to the Machine Gun Corps when he died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds 15 days after the Armistice, having been suffering for some time from depression and influenza. He was the last WWI casualty from St Peters College. Commemorated by the CWGC and the Australia War Memorial Commemorative Roll, Canberra.
